[ The feed turns on to see a little, small room. There's a candle lit, and a girl's face complexly looking into the feed. A Sunkern in her hand chirps. It's obvious whoever is operating this thing doesn't really have much of an idea on good angles, or how to actually use the video camera. She turns the PCD to the ceiling, where a Woobat and a Shiny Zubat are both sleeping. It then turns again to see an Ekans wrapping itself tight around a sleeping Torchic before it turns back to Momo.

Once she has the feed pointing back at her, Momo blinks twice before beginning. ]

Is this... Is this on? Hello guys! Hmm, let's see! I'm Momo Hinamori! I've been mostly just trying to adjust and learn how to get settled in so I wouldn't ask any questions you guys probably heard a hundred times before! So, now, that I'm settled in, I kinda have a question. It's about Team Rocket...

[ She pauses. ]

They're charitable freelance dentists, right? [ ...Yeah. Leave it to Momo to be so off subject... ]

And, uh, have any of you ever got people from home come here but they're like younger than what they used to be? One of my close friends arrived here, except he was from a time where we were both in school. And then one of my friends showed up here as a little kid and then they both went home really quickly. Why do people show up here and just leave anyways?!

Also! If someone sees Princess Gorgeous - I think that's her name - please let me know I'm looking for her! She looks a lot like Hayate, except she's an impostor. [ She's very timid with this whole network thing. How many things does she talk about? When is it appropriate to end? ]

Ahh! Sorry for all of the questions, I guess I just have a lot on my mind! I'll talk to you guys all later! Thank you for listening! [ She kinda lingers on the feed for half a minute before realizing she needs to turn it off. So she'll fumble around with her pokegear until it actually turns off. ]

That sounds... wow.

So even Shinigami can have the same flaws as humans, huh? That's something we don't always hear about in the stories, but if it's like having a second life, I guess it would make sense. But what's there to experiment on with dead people? Aren't they just like... [She waves a hand, clearly in what's meant as a ghosty gesture] Smoke and spirits and stuff?

It's not perfect. Everyone has a flaw or two, but some people are a bit more flawed than others. [ She's being as diplomatic as possible. ]

And no. Your soul becomes a physical entity when you're in the afterlife. Otherwise, it's just inside you, kinda like a kidney.

I don't know if you can call that a bit... [What's diplomacy?]

Weird to think about, though. I'll have to keep that in mind, I guess... if my world even works like that. I wonder if shinigami are like that where I'm from...

They're against the corruption of souls, and, as a result, keep the entire reincarnation cycle going so the worlds don't collapse. They're a little gruff, but, their expertise and strength makes them invaluable to operations, so we have to tolerate them. [ In other words: we wish they were saner but they aren't. ]

I think Shinigami are universal, but that's just from my experience. They'd probably be similar in rank and organization.

Right... I guess that makes sense, but what kind of... You know what, I'm just going to take your word for it, all this worlds-collapsing business is something you've probably got more experience with than me.

Well, I'm really glad I can say I've met a Shinigami without dying first!

I'm sure you'll learn all about it and become just as versed as me once you enter the soul society in about three-hundred years from now!! [ That was an awfully cheery sentence... ]

Yeah! That's a special thing to happen to someone! It doesn't normally happen! Mostly because we kinda aren't allowed to. [ Or they get the Sogyoku... ]

Wait, back up. What's this about three hundred years?

Well, I figured you'll live to about a hundred, then you'll die and continue to live in the Rukongai until you realize your potential to join the Soul Society Academy, and then you'll do that and it'll take you another one hundred and fifty years to become a lieutenant, just like me! [ What a very very long and eternal plan ): ]

[She just stares for a moment before laughing a little uncomfortably.]

Sounds like you've got it all figured out, huh? So souls can decide to join this Academy instead of getting reborn...?

No, but the afterlife usually lasts a very very long time. It lasts hundreds of years, which is why you should probably join the academy and learn how to become a shinigami, like me! [ You can become just like Momo too!!! ] I think you'd make a really good one.

Uh...huh...

You really think so? I guess it's something to think about... does your personality change, or are you still, like... yourself?

Your personality usually remains the same. Sometimes, the experiences in the afterlife can kinda make you a little bit different but that makes sense, you know? You're a sum of your experiences, so, there's no wonder that you'll change and grow to the things, and people, around you. But it's never for the bad, usually. The Soul Society is so different from the world of the living, it's kinda necessary in some regards.

[ She doesn't really have a problem with answering this question a little more bluntly than she actually should. ]

Uh-huh... [That really seems to be all she can say in this overflow of information, oh man.]

I guess when you put it that way, it really doesn't seem as bad as it could be. I'm not in any hurry to end up there, though!

You shouldn't! Enjoy the life you have now so you know exactly how to better the next one! [ This is an encouragement from a Shinigami to live a long, fulfilling life at a career that will rarely allow you to pass forty ~~intact~~. ]

Right, I'll do that. Trying to make the best of this place is a good start, I guess. [Nonsense, to die in her particular career, she'd have to be on screen -- safe!]

Well, I don't think you age or die here, but you should make the most of this place while you're here. It has several luxuries, you know? Especially since time isn't so much of an issue.

You definitely age if Riku-san's telling the truth about himself, but I think you're right about people not being able to die. It's kind of creepy in a way, but I definitely can't say I mind...

[Unless she gets captured and someone takes advantage of the part where people can't die and just keeps hurting them over and over again...]

But I wonder if you just get to a certain point and just... stop? Or if you'd be old forever.

So I can get older? [ This is weird to Momo. She ages so slowly, that thought of her actually aging normally kinda creeps her out a bit. ] What if I'm here for five years and then go back... everyone will think I'm fifty years older. I kinda mind, because the death cycle is very important and its disruption could lead to some unfortunate things... [ She'll be vague about how unfortunate it is in the mean time. ]

Maybe the aging stops once very noticeable changes happen. So, you don't look like you're a thousand and nine all the time.

I don't know... maybe it'll just be like nothing happened at all once you go back? Like, it'd be reversed...?

Or maybe it's just different since you're a shinigami. I definitely don't want to be old forever, gah!

Well, I think I'm just a normal human here. There's no test that I can perform to see if I'm just a Shinigami, but I don't feel any of my spiritual energy.

Maybe there's a slight difference in a Shinigami's physical compsition that keeps them young. Or, maybe because I have an actual body it'll just shed when I get back home... [ The possibilities are endless, and interesting. ]

Well, where I'm from, everyone has spiritual energy. Well, physical and spiritual energy, I mean. That's how we do our techniques, by combining them into something called Chakra... but I don't feel anything like that here, either.

Shedding though, you think? [Yikes!]

Well, I think some humans might have spiritual energy but they're few and far in between. Maybe the links between the world of the dead and the world of the living are so close that you guys have similar powers or something! [ At least they agree they feel nothing... ]

Yeah. Since my body would revert back to just a soul in the afterlife, I wouldn't need the body. It'd probably be left behind or it'd just pop off. Not that it'd matter, anyways, I would still look like how I look like now. I wouldn't be some hideous monster or anything. [ Nervous nervous giggle. ]

May... be...? [She'd never thought about it like that at all, but she supposed it could be possible.] I always thought it was pretty normal for ninja though. I mean, sure, one of my teammates can't use any kind of ninjutsu but...

Anyway, that's... a little creepy, but I guess it makes sense. If you guys had to go to the human world to, uh, reap souls or whatever, would you use one of those bodies? [A pop-off body? So weird, Momo!]

Are ninja the minority of people in your world? I mean, if only ninja use chakra, maybe that's because they're the only people that have enough energy to. [ Or something like that. ]

No, we don't. When we reap souls, they're just souls. They don't have a body, but, if their body hasn't been properly buried, they might still be chained to it. If, for whatever reason, we have to materialize and appear to humans, we use a Gigai, or a fake body. It basically is like a giant replica balloon of you when there's nothing inside there, which is where I got the shell idea from. However, this tends to be not very needed, and revealing anything about Shinigami to humans is frowned upon but it's not illegal. Not to mention, people just think you're crazy when you try to explain it to them anyways.

Oh... well when you put it that way, I guess that's true. One of my teammates, though, he can barely mold his energy, but he's still one of the strongest ninja I know. I guess it just depends on willpower and determination, huh?

...Well, I can see why people would think you're crazy. If I hadn't been up and dropped into another world, I'd probably think it was a lot weirder, too. I guess it's okay to do here though, since you're not actually... doing Shinigami things for the most part, huh?
